Preparation

What is a logo?

A logo is an image that aims to inform potential customers about the business,

create a connection with them and to make the business stand out.

The most known logos in the world rely on simplicity, with the primary goal of making people remember the image and associate the image with the product.

It is most commonly made up of text, an icon, or both, with minimal detail and

variation of color, plenty of space to breathe and modular elements, that can be used in different contexts, such as a website, product or any other media the

business needs for its promotional material.

Why do I need a logo?

A business communicates its values and services through imagery, giving the

customers a sense of trust, confidence and, in time, developing loyalty that will bring them back every time they need the services provided.

When a business starts aiming higher and wants to start developing a brand image, they start with the logo and all its elements; they act as a foundation for the rest of the visual communication they will create in the future.

A strong and appropriate logo also shows customers that the business is confident and professional, is willing to invest in its growth and cares about how it is perceived.

What should I expect?

We offer a streamlined version of the typical process used by top design agencies

to kickstart small and medium businesses on the path of developing their visual

identity and better positioning themselves on the market.

The process guides you through every stage, with feedback and guidance from the designers that have every interest in helping the business develop a brand image that works for the industry, for the current market, for the business itself and for any technical issues that have to be taken into account.

At the end, we deliver everything the business will need in the foreseable future in terms of file formats and basic assets, as well as everything it might need when it decides to expand the brand image even further.

What are the best practices?

A logo aims to identify, not explain.

A logo aims to capture attention quickly, not impress through detail.

A logo must be versatile and modular, not context-dependant.

A logo represents the goals and services of the business, not personal tastes.

A logo is a tool, not a vanity mark.

A logo must function independent of color and effects.

A logo must be easy to read at really small sizes.

Creation

Information

Gathering Information from the brief.

Brief Notes

We gather the information provided in the design brief, with the primary goal of creating a clear direction and goal for the project. The clearer the owner’s vision and the more information they share with us, the better.

Research

We research the industry standards and visual language, the competitors, create a list of common attributes that work and then find a way to break the pattern and add a differentiating element to help the business stand out.

Ideation

References and Inspiration.

We start trying out ideas based on the information we gathered, playing around with options, layouts and elements, until we exhaust the obvious options.

When we settle on three concepts, we clean them up, add color and prepare them to be shared with the client.

Conceptualization

We prepare three logo concepts that cover a lot of different directions so our client can choose the one closest to their vision.

Every choice is picked based on the information we have been given, as well as the limitations of the industry, competitors, enhanced with years of experience in helping similar businesses reach their goals.

They are also broad enough that they can be built upon with the clients’ guidance after receiving them and having a dialogue about what each direction can offer the business.

Logo Design Service - Initial Concepts

Hello! Your first drafts are ready!

In-line with your design specification, we have created three initial logo concepts for your review.

On this page we have placed all three logo designs next to each other for easy comparison, if you explore the documents further, you will find a series of pages outlining our thoughts behind each design, with previews of some potential color variations.

The nest step is for you to have a browse through this document and provide us with you feedback on which option you prefer so we can develop them into a final design.

Please be aware that, in case none of the concepts presented are satisfactory but you like certain elements from different design, we can mix and match. Please mention which elements you like so we can continue the process smoothly and efficiently.

Concept 1

Description

This design us as a clean and modern typeface for the title with a stylized representation of a boat in the middle, leaving a trail of water as it speeds through.

The colors highlight the nickname and boat, making sure the viewer remembers and understands the most important information.

Typography and Color

We offer a document where all options are layed out, explained and compared.

Firstly, the concepts are presented on the first page together, with each concept broken down on its own page.

We also show how the logo works without any colors and effects on the lower part of the page, which is important to take into account before moving forward.

Revision

Batch 2

We take the feedback we received after the first batch, make changes and send for

final approval.

The changes we make are aimed at refining the one our client picks, with small shape, layout or color elements being the most common.

In this case, all we had to do was change the circle into an oval to signify more

movement, and a color change to highlight a few letters that are part of the brand and were worth highlighting.

Final Files

When our client is satisfied, we prepare the documents the client might need for any situation, with additional elements that might be requested included, such as a condensed version that we agreed upon or the icon/symbol on its own.

With these files, the business can use its new logo on websites, social media, product packaging or merchandise or anything else they might need, with source files that can be used and modified by someone with acces to a vector software and experience, such as a print shop tehnician.
